“Brrr… Puff! BOOM!” — yep, there goes my Samsung 7, but at least this time it said goodbye.
Samsung has taken over VIV and the next step in Artificial Intelligence communication is just ahead. Creators of the AI platform, Dag Kittlaus, Adam Cheyer and Chris Brigham have already raised a famous child — Siri, and it’s easy to sense the trend. Maybe this time, my mobile will be able to describe an internal state or a feeling before crushing.
“Dear, I’m gonna explode” — said no Samsung Galaxy Note 7 ever.
This might be a good reason for AI implementation, filled with warning signs before your clients burn their hands. Same happens wit flexible iPhones (“Ouch, I’m bending”), or evil Android bugs attack (“Don’t open this app, why the hell did you agree on terms & conditions here?!”). But jokes aside (there will be plenty time for it later), intelligent interfaces are the future, with vague boundaries on what’s gonna be the limit of their development.
Let’s have look at press releases on VIV. It is said to be voice commanded interface, that adjusts their responses to each user. “Unlike other existing AI-based services, VIV has a sophisticated natural language understanding, machine learning capabilities and strategic partnerships that will enrich a broader service ecosystem,” — these are the words of Injong Rhee, CTO of the Mobile Communications business at Samsung Electronics, taken from their www. But there is more to that. Have you heard the first words?
All devices and products. For Samsung that means TV’s, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, headphones or blenders. In the future, virtual assistants will be integrated with all the devices and perhaps connected to each other. So next time don’t open the fridge, just ask it, whether there’s any cheese left. Don’t bother to click the coffee button, just command a warm coffee. And let’s expand this vision more… Imagine being in a traffic, and asking your mobile phone to turn on your microwave, so your meal gets heated. Or checking via mobile, if you switched off your iron machine, because in a hurry you simply forgot if you did so. This is not only a vision of smart homes, offices or devices, it’s an Internet of Things expansion to a level of smart life.
